BTopenworld 3D Worlds

BTopenworld Start[]

BTopenworld Start is a default sci-fi info world made by Worlds Inc. in 2000 in collaboration with British Telecom for the purpose of being advertised on their BTopenworld internet service and its youth lifestyle portal Uprush, which were both new at the time, in exchange for building two worlds for the aforementioned BT products that was to be featured on Worlds.com. The appearance of the world is set primarily on floating platforms above a flat grassy plain with futuristic technology spread throughout. This world once featured pages hosted by British Telecom on futuristic screens for people to click on and browse with WorldsPlayer, but have since went defunct. The hub also contains portals to root worlds associated with BTopenworld Start which are Cyber Parliament, Big Time, and the Garden of Tranquility.

Cyber Parliament[]

Cyber Parliament is a default sci-fi info world made by Worlds Inc. that starts out with the user warping into the world as if BT's internet has them approaching at a high velocity. Upon entry into the main area users will see themselves contained within a transparent Earth looking out into the cosmos, as well as a platform with a computer showing binary code, a mini Earth floating in the center below it and futuristic screens on each spread-out end of the platform. These screens would've allowed users to view pages such as news articles and featured videos on BT's Uprush site.

Big Time[]

Big Time is a default sci-fi hangout world made by Worlds Inc. featuring a pyramid on the middle of what appears to be a rooftop in a city being shined on with a spotlight on top of the pyramid. Inside the pyramid is an empty lobby with an elevator leading up to an empty balcony room with a nice view of the city surrounding the pyramid.

Garden of Tranquility[]

Garden of Tranquility is a default garden world made by Worlds Inc. that begins with the user spawning into the middle of a courtyard with a finely crafted stone fountain in the middle and four stone statues surrounding it. These statues could be clicked on to visit various pages hosted by BTopenworld's servers, however these sites have since went defunct. Continuing out of the courtyard will lead into the beginning of a virtual reconstruction of the Hampton Court Maze that users can attempt to explore to the center of.

Significance[]

Btopenworld 3D Worlds future was short lived as Uprush, one of two BT products Worlds Inc. was contracted to make a world for, folded under a month after the press release announcement, leaving the state of its development uncertain. There were also plans to include 5 new avatars with BT's worlds at some point, but due to development being unfinished none of these ever came to exist on Worlds.
